Pondicherry or Puducherry was always on my bucket list. Not just because it is blessed with French influence, but because of the treasure of seafood it holds. This quaint little town is known as the French Rivera of the East, Pondicherry holds a charm that influences travelers to explore. From food to architecture, Pondicherry is largely influenced by French culture which is worth exploring. My main aim of traveling to Pondicherry was the seafood which I heard a lot through my friends. So I collected more information through research work and booked my tickets and hotels in Pondicherry.

Since the time I booked my tickets, the images of lip-smacking seafood were flashing in my eyes, creating more desire to reach soon and start hogging. I had listed down the top restaurants where I can fulfill my desire for seafood.

The Journey Begins:

Upon landing in Pondicherry and resting at the most luxurious looking and heritage hotel called Le Dupleix. This heritage hotel was originally the residence of the last French Mayor of Pondicherry and has a charming design to look at. Located at the quaint street, it was really a peaceful stay for me. After resting for a few hours, I was just waiting to take the first bite of seafood at the restaurant Le Dupleix has.

In fact, Le Dupleix is famous for serving the range of kinds of seafood at the best price. The menu card displayed Indian and European recipes which ignited my hunger more, especially looking at the images. I ordered Goan Prawn Curry which is really spicy and lip-smacking. But the best of all was the Rock Lobster cooked with chili butter. My lunch was the best beginning to tour Pondicherry.

I know I was full and it was time to explore Pondicherry, so I can be tired and have a great seafood dinner. After exploring White Town, the cutest building I ever came across, and spending time at The Promenade, Rock Beach, and Gandhi Statue, watching a beautiful sunset, I was damn tried to head on for the dinner. I had a few options with me like- Sea Gulls, Satsanga, Le Pondy, and La Maison Rose, but I headed to Sea Gulls, and trust me, it was a good decision.

Sea Gulls Restaurant:

This multi-cuisine restaurant is perfect for seafood lovers like me. I grabbed my seat giving sea-view and ordered some good food options. Located at the Port Road, White Town, it was a perfect dining experience for me. Although it has limited sea-food options, my decision to order Netheilli65 and Crab Fry was right. Again my decision was really great. Accompanies with a glass of beer and a plate full of seafood it was a really great dinner. The ambiance to is quite inviting making a perfect dining place.

Satsanga:

My next stop for the lunch was Satsanga at the White Town which is also the perfect seafood restaurant. Located at La Bourbonnais Street, this restaurant is known for growing its own vegetables organic and serves the fresh seafood catch. The menu card contains complete French food items which you can know about after ordering. But I was keen on seafood, so I ordered Squid and Prawn Creole Sauce, spicy yet delicious. If you are anywhere nearby, then I would suggest you go for Satsanga.

Unfortunately, it was my shortest trip to Pondicherry, but I promised to come back again and spend more time. Meanwhile, for those who are looking for more seafood restaurant offers, I have a few more suggestions:

Theev Plage-

Located at the Kottakuppam, Theev Plage is the best option to have seafood lunch or dinner. Some of the options you would find here are- Prawn Pepper Fry, Snapper Fish, Pomfret Fish, Tiger Prawns, and few others. Unfortunately, the hotel doesn’t have a bar counter.

Maison Perumal-

Located at the Perumal Koil Street, Maison Perumal Heritage is yet another best option. Let your beer or whiskey blend with seafood options like- Sutta Era, Kadugu Era, Rawa Varutha Meen, and many more that are delicious enough to fill your gastro.

De Bluefin Seafood Restaurant:

Located at the Raj Classic Inn, this seafood restaurant throws a classy menu of seafood. This includes- Seafood Fried Rice, Singapore Chili Crab, Prawn Curry, Malabar Prawn Curry, and few more.

So I did my job, when are you visiting Pondicherry, the heaven of seafood?
